Mayara Felix is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Global Affairs at the Department of Economics and the Jackson School of Global Affairs. She is an NBER Faculty Research Fellow, an EGC Faculty Affiliate, and an invited researcher at J-PAL Latin America.
Felix's research interests include economic development, international trade, and labor economics, with a particular focus on the effects of liberalization-related reforms. Her recent research explores the effects of trade and outsourcing on labor market conditions. She studies the design and effects of policies intended to improve market efficiency in developing countries, such as import tariff reductions, free trade agreements, and outsourcing. A special focus of her research is firms’ responses to these policies and their implications to competition. Her work is primarily on Latin America, with additional work in Indonesia.
Mayara received a PhD in Economics from MIT in June 2021, and was previously a Postdoctoral Associate at the Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics.
